The new Connectware RASTERPRESS JPEG Compression Library enables softwaredevelopers to quickly incorporate JPEG compression/decompression into anyUNIX application. Its robust algorithms and extensive feature set ensuremaximum compatibility.The RasterPress JPEG Compression Library is based on the patented JPEG++compression software from Storm Technology. It allows softwaredevelopers to implement high-quality JPEG functionality in theirprograms. And, because developers do not have to write their own JPEGcode, it reduces the time it takes to get applications to the market. Inaddition, developers gain a competitive advantage because the libraryallows them to customize JPEG compression functions to fit their end-users' needs.FEATURES:

Baseline JPEG compatibility with RGB support (YCC), CMYK support (CMYK

or YCCK), and restart markers support.

Easy-to-use standard API.
User-selectable quality levels.
Striping allows developers to build virtual memory schemes that would

allow compression/decompression functions to operate in background modewith multiple jobs running at a time.

Generates image-specific Huffman tables that yield better compression

for smaller file size.

Takes only a small space in your application: approximately 35KB,

only 20-25KB for decoder.

C bindings simplify implementation.
Supports 8-bit grayscale for non-color compression/decompression.
Offers planar and interleaved input/output for CMYK and RGB.
Provides RGB to grayscale conversion, for saving a grayscale version

of an RGB image.

Unlike other JPEG implementations, subsampling is not limited to just

normal JPEG presets. Maximum flexibility is provided since you canspecify 1 to 4 subsampling for each of the four components (in eitherdirection).

Optional 80 MIPS RasterPress JPEG accelerator card available for

applications that require ultimate speed and minimal degradation.
